LED light source projectors and traditional bulb projectors are two mainstream types in the current projector market, with huge differences in light source principle, service life, energy consumption, maintenance cost and daily use experience. Traditional bulb projectors use ultra-high pressure mercury lamps as light sources, which were dominant in the early projector industry. Their initial brightness is relatively high, and the projection picture is bright in a short time. However, mercury bulbs have obvious shortcomings: the service life is short, generally only about 2000 to 5000 hours, and the brightness will decay rapidly after long-term use. The bulb is fragile and easy to burn out, so users need to replace the bulb regularly, and each replacement costs a lot, increasing later maintenance expenses. Besides, bulb projectors generate massive heat during operation, with loud fan noise and high power consumption.

In contrast, modern LED projectors adopt semiconductor light-emitting diodes as light sources, which have become the mainstream choice for household, office and educational scenarios. LED light sources have extremely long service life, usually reaching 20000 to 50000 hours or even longer without light source replacement in the whole life cycle. They feature low energy consumption, fast startup, no preheating required, instant on and off, and stable brightness with slow attenuation. The heat generation is far lower than bulb projectors, with quieter operation and safer use. In terms of environmental protection, LED light sources contain no harmful mercury elements, which is more eco-friendly. Although the initial single brightness of some low-end LED projectors is slightly inferior to high-power bulb machines, high-quality LED models have achieved sufficient brightness for office, teaching and daily projection. In comprehensive cost, later maintenance, use convenience and environmental performance, LED projectors completely surpass traditional bulb projectors and gradually replace them in most application fields.
