HW45 Home Cinema - HW Series Projector

Selecting a matched projector screen size is based on room space, viewing distance, projector brightness and daily usage scenarios. An oversized screen causes blurred details and eye fatigue, while an undersized screen loses immersive viewing experience. Household living rooms, bedrooms and commercial conference rooms have completely different screen size selection standards, and fixed rules can help users make accurate choices.

First, judge screen size by indoor viewing distance, the most core selection standard. Industry universal viewing distance formula is applicable for all scenes. For home entertainment, the optimal viewing distance is 1.8 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal length. A 100-inch screen fits 3.5m to 4.5m viewing distance, which is the most popular size for ordinary living rooms. A 84-inch screen matches 2.8m to 3.4m bedroom viewing distance, suitable for small bedroom embedded projection. For office meeting rooms, choose 120-inch or larger screens, because collective viewing requires wider visual range for staff to read text clearly.

Second, match screen size with projector brightness and ambient light. Low-brightness portable projectors below 300 ANSI lumen cannot support screens larger than 84 inches, otherwise pictures turn gray and faded under weak ambient light. Mid-brightness home projectors of 800 to 1500 ANSI lumen adapt 100-inch standard screens. High-brightness engineering projectors over 3000 ANSI lumen can carry 150-inch large screens for living rooms with strong daylight. Rooms with large windows and strong natural light need smaller screens to improve picture contrast.

Third, combine wall space and installation style to finalize size. Measure the available wall width for projection first, reserve 30cm margin on both sides of the screen for aesthetic layout. Electric retractable screens prioritize 100-inch size for universal installation. Fixed frame screens pursue immersive effect, and can choose 120-inch size for large living rooms. Besides, prioritize 16:9 ratio screens uniformly, matching mainstream video resources, and avoid customized special ratio screens with poor compatibility.
