HW45 Home Cinema - HW Series Projector

MEMC, short for Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation, is a core image processing technology widely equipped on modern home projectors, specially designed to optimize dynamic picture performance. Unlike static image display, dynamic scenes such as sports games, action movies and game footage often produce ghosting, blurriness and stuttering on traditional projection screens. This problem is more obvious on projectors than TVs because projectors amplify images to a large screen, which magnifies every tiny frame jitter and blur. MEMC technology perfectly solves this pain point by analyzing frame changes in real time.

The working principle of MEMC is precise and efficient. The chip inside the projector will automatically estimate the motion trajectory of objects between two adjacent original frames, calculate the missing dynamic details, and intelligently insert new intermediate frames. For example, when watching a fast-running sports match or a high-speed chase scene in a movie, the technology can fill the frame transition gap, make the picture transition smoother, and eliminate the trailing blur of moving objects. It effectively improves the dynamic definition of large-screen projection and greatly enhances the viewing immersion.

It is worth noting that MEMC technology needs to be matched with suitable hardware to exert the best effect. High-quality projectors adopt high-precision motion estimation algorithms, which can accurately identify various dynamic scenes and avoid frame distortion and screen tearing caused by incorrect frame insertion. In addition, users can manually adjust the MEMC strength according to different scenarios. For slow-paced dramas and literary movies, low-level or closed mode can reduce power consumption; for fast dynamic scenes, high-level mode can be turned on to ensure a smooth and clear large-screen visual experience.
