The integration of projector and virtual reality (VR) technology is a new trend in the development of the projector industry, which combines the large-screen display advantage of projectors with the immersive experience of VR technology, breaking the limitations of single display devices and creating a new immersive interactive experience. In the past, projectors mainly provided a one-way large-screen display, and users could only passively watch the content without real interaction; VR technology provided an immersive experience, but it was limited by the field of view of VR headsets, and it was difficult to achieve multi-person collaborative interaction. The integration of the two technologies can complement each other, giving full play to the advantages of both and expanding the application scenarios of projectors.

At present, the integration of projector and VR technology has achieved initial results in multiple application scenarios, among which the cultural and educational field and the professional industrial field have the most obvious application effects. In the cultural field, museums and cultural relic protection institutions have widely adopted the integration technology of projector and VR to create immersive cultural experiences. For example, in museums, projectors are used to project large-scale virtual historical scenes (such as the streets of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty and the canals of Bianjing in the Song Dynasty) on the wall or ground, and users can wear lightweight VR headsets to "enter" the virtual scene, touch the details of cultural relics, and participate in historical events, realizing the transformation of cultural communication from "passive acceptance" to "active exploration". In the educational field, the integration technology is used to create immersive teaching scenarios, such as virtual laboratories, historical scene restoration, and geographical environment simulation, allowing students to have a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of knowledge, improving the teaching effect.

In the professional industrial field, the integration of projector and VR technology is also widely used in industrial prototyping, architectural design, medical training, and other fields. For example, the Zarzis Smart Center in Tunisia has built the region's first VR CAVE using Barco's advanced projectors, which consists of three Barco F80-Q9 projectors, forming a three-sided immersive environment with ultra-high resolution, which can be used for industrial prototyping, 3D modeling, and professional training in fields such as automotive, aeronautics, and medicine. The four-camera tracking system equipped in the VR CAVE can realize real-time precise interaction, allowing multiple users to collaborate in the virtual environment, improving the efficiency of R&D and training. In addition, in the home entertainment field, some manufacturers have launched integrated products of projector and VR, which can not only project large-screen movies and games but also connect with VR headsets to realize immersive gaming and viewing experiences, bringing a new entertainment mode to users.

Although the integration of projector and VR technology has achieved certain progress, there are still some challenges to be solved, such as the high cost of integration, the difficulty of spatial registration between projection and VR systems, and the high cost of content creation. However, with the continuous advancement of technology and the reduction of costs, these problems will be gradually solved. In the future, the integration of projector and VR technology will be more in-depth, and more intelligent functions such as gesture control and voice interaction will be added to realize a more seamless immersive experience. At the same time, the application scenarios will be further expanded to cover more fields such as commercial display, medical treatment, and military training, promoting the upgrading and development of the entire display industry.
